Regular Monthly Meeting
The Regular Board of Supervisors meeting was called to order at the Wood River Town Hall at 6:30 pm by Chairman Joel Johnson. Present were Chairman Joel Johnson, Supervisors Daryl Wedin, John Hennessey, Treasurer Laura McKeag, Clerk Raylene Swanson, Jeff Erickson, Donald Chell, Ronald Peterson, John Taylor, Lisa Britton, Bill King Jr. and Jim Tolbert

Open Road Bids:
Paving 1 mile of S. Williams Rd @ 22’ by 3”: Monarch Paving- $93,777.56. Taylor Paving- $92,493.00. John Hennessey made a motion to accept Taylor Paving’s bid of $92,493.00. Daryl Wedin seconded it. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Culvert Patch on Crosstown Rd. 2” thick: Monarch Paving-$1,372.00. Taylor Paving- $1,400.00. Daryl Wedin made a motion to accept Monarch Paving’s bid of $1,372.00 John Hennessey seconded it. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Bill King: Bill King Jr., from Cty. Rd D, stated that there have been many tannerite explosions set off on a nearby property located on/near Deer Farm Rd. They could be at any time of day or night. One just doesn’t know when they will happen. Due to past military experience, Bill does not like the fear that these unexpected explosions put in him. Bill has contacted Sheriff Wilhelm, deputies, Sheila Harsdorf, Congressman Johnson and Sean Duffy. He has been told that it is legal. Deputies have talked to the landowners and things did decrease and then it came back again. The Town advised that he talk to the landowner and explain the situation with past military experiences etc and try to come to an agreement or be informed as to when they will be doing it.

Citizen input: Donald Chell stated he was concerned about the upcoming ambulance contract. Daryl Wedin stated that he was at last month’s meeting. The Town’s Association has a meeting at the end of April to discuss further options. Town has until end of June to make decision on what contract to go with.

Jim Tolbert- Emergency Management Dept.: Jim Tolbert introduced himself as the new director for the Emergency Management Dept. He suggests all Towns have an Emergency Planning Plan. Jim will be talking at the Towns Association’s July 27th meeting. Then he will be doing training for Town/County Boards on August 3rd.

Discuss purchasing land for future Town Shop/Town Hall Expansion: Joel Johnson suggested we consider purchasing the ½ lot of land located east of the Town Shop from Paul Becvar. Daryl Wedin made a motion to talk to Paul Becvar for the possibility of purchasing his ½ lot adjacent to the Town Shop for a future Town Hall. John Hennessey seconded it. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Clerk Training in Minocqua: John Hennessey made a motion for the Clerk to attend the WMCA Clerk training in Minocqua on May 4-5. Joel Johnson seconded it. All voted in favor. Motion carried.


March 2017 Minutes: review and approve: The March 8, 2017 Regular Board Meeting minutes were reviewed and John Hennessey made a motion to approve the March 8, 2017 meeting minutes as written. Daryl Wedin seconded the motion. All voted in favor. MC

March 2017 Treasurers Report: review and approve: Treasurer Laura McKeag submitted the March 2017 Treasurers report. The General fund balance is $231,132.52; Highway fund balance is $30,122.21; Savings account balance is $38,132.67; the CD balance is $34,449.28. Joel Johnson asked if there were any questions. John Hennessey made a motion to approve the March Treasurer’s report as presented. Daryl Wedin seconded the motion. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Fire Association Report: Daryl Wedin presented the Board with the March 20, 2017 meeting minutes to review.

Discuss gravel supply: Table discussion until later this year.

Road Maintenance: Board decided to hold the Annual Road Tour on April 21st at 9:00 a.m.

Audit the bills: Joel Johnson made a motion to audit the bills. John Hennessey seconded the motion. All voted in favor. Bills approved and paid. Motion passed.

Set Agenda for May: Road tour findings, mailbox for Town, Business alcohol licenses, ATV/UTV routes adjacent to County Roads and regular monthly items.

Adjourn meeting: Daryl Wedin made a motion to adjourn meeting. John Hennessey seconded the motion. All voted in favor. Motion carried. Chairman Joel Johnson adjourned the meeting at 9:10 pm.
