Regular Monthly Meeting
The Regular Board of Supervisors meeting was called to order at the Wood River Town Hall at 6:30 pm by Chairman Joel Johnson. Present were Chairman Joel Johnson, Supervisors Daryl Wedin, John Hennessey, Treasurer Laura McKeag, Clerk Raylene Swanson, Jeff Erickson and Donald Chell.
Citizen input: Donald Chell inquired as to what we knew about the upcoming Ambulance Service contracts. Daryl Wedin stated that there was a meeting on March 9th and they are having monthly meetings to give local people an opportunity to ask questions about the situation. Donald was very concerned about the possibility of huge increases in cost. He would like the Board to check into all options.
Burnett County Public Health Dept.-arsenic testing: Brittany, from the Public Health Dept., gave us information about a grant that they received to do random testing for arsenic in private wells in Burnett County. She requested that all 5 Town Employees did testing of their wells.
Burnett Dairy Co-op Servers Licenses: review and approve: Joel Johnson made a motion to approve 4 Servers Licenses for Burnett Dairy. John Hennessey seconded it. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Grantsburg Public Library: review: Discussed a request from the Grantsburg Public Library for a monetary donation. Raylene was asked to look into the State Statutes for donating to non-profit organizations that the Town has no ownership in. Discussion tabled.
February 2017 Minutes: review and approve: The February 8, 2017 Regular Board Meeting minutes were reviewed and Joel Johnson made a motion to approve the February 8, 2017 meeting minutes as written. John Hennessey seconded the motion. All voted in favor
February 2017 Treasurers Report: review and approve: Treasurer Laura McKeag submitted the February 2017 Treasurers report. The General fund balance is $233,894.42; Highway fund balance is $37,311.22; Savings account balance is $38,127.81; the CD balance is $34,449.28. Joel Johnson asked if there were any questions. John Hennessey made a motion to approve the January Treasurer’s report as presented. Daryl Wedin seconded the motion. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Fire Association Report: Daryl Wedin reported that the Fire Department had attempted to acquire a 1999 Peterbilt Tender Truck. They bid $80,000. The truck sold for $108,000. They will continue to look for potential opportunities.
Road Maintenance: Jeff Erickson reported that everything is going okay. Keeping up with the snowfalls and rains. The Board worked on verbiage for road bids to be opened at the April 12, 2017 meeting.
Audit the bills: Joel Johnson made a motion to audit the bills. John Hennessey seconded the motion. All voted in favor. Bills approved and paid. Motion passed.
Set Agenda for April: Open road bids, WMCA training in May and regular monthly items.
Adjourn meeting: Joel Johnson made a motion to adjourn meeting. John Hennessey seconded the motion. All voted in favor. Motion carried. Chairman Joel Johnson adjourned the meeting at 8:07 pm.
